Denver Gets in the Game

Drift Snowkite Magazine founder and editor, James Brown, took advantage of the upslope storm hammering the Denver area for a first snowkite session of the season. Although the boys in Montana and Wyoming have been getting in rides for some weeks now, it looks like Colorado can now join in on the fun.

Fort Collins was also definitely in on that. I got the pleasure of going out to the Hughs stadium parking lot where half of it was wind loaded about 15-17 inches deep. That wonderful Wyoming wind made an apearance to the tune of 30 gusting 35; and man! what a day! Brought out the skis, the 2m Ozone fury (that i only really use any more for teaching friends with), and got the great pleasure of carving 25 mph powder turns in late october. Its days like this that remind me why i live in Colorado.

We have been hearing some reports of kiters making use of the October storm that blanketed much of the front range. Thanks for sharing the details of your adventure. Sounds like great use of a parking lot, some good powder and that amazing Wyoming wind!

Let's meet up for an urban Session when we get the next accumulation. Robin

  3. I used to live in Boulder back in '92 and I wish I was hip to snowkiting then! We finally got snow in Michigan…waxing my board up as I type!
