Last spring, Drift Snowkite Magazine worked with the IKO and some of the top snowkite instructors in the US to lay the foundation of a national instructor certification program. This coming January, that effort will bear its first fruit.

IKO Snowkite Instructor Training Courses (ITC) are available this season!

Ozone Team Rider and IKO snowkite instructor Zebulon Jakub will be hosting the season’s first Snowkite Instructor Training Course January 10-15th at Tug Hill in upstate New York. Details and more information are available by contacting Zebulon Jakub via email at zebulonjakub@hotmail.com.

IKO Snowkite Instructor Certification CourseIKO Snowkite Instructor Certification CourseColorado Kite Force will host an ITC/IEC January 28-31st in Dillon, Colorado. There are only 8 Instructor Training course (ITC) positions available and 2 instructor Equivalency Course (IEC) positions available for the course. The course is in demand and will fill up so don’t delay and be one of the first on the registry. Registration will close December 28th or sooner if the course fills up.

Snowkite ITC Requirements

  • You must be 18 years of age.
  • level 3 IKO snowkiters for at least a year.
  • Have a valid first Aid/ CPR
  • Have and IKO assistant instructor certification or provide evidence of prior teaching experience with kiting or another snow sport (skiing or snowboarding).

Snowkite IEC Requirements

  • You must be 18 years of age.
  • provide copy of instructor training from another certification system
  • Copy of valid first aid / CPR certificationIKO Snowkite Instructor Certification Course
  • Letter of recommendation and proof of 1 year snowkite teaching experience.
